Shaping the Experience of Light

February 2026

Lucian Partners With Louis Poulsen

Lucian is now the exclusive commercial distributor for Louis Poulsen across New South Wales, Victoria, Tasmania and Western Australia, and we couldn't be more enthusiastic about it.

Louis Poulsen is one of the most important names in lighting history, and it is an honour to include them in our portfolio. The Australian design community is diverse and exceptional, and we feel we're expanding on this by extending Louis Poulsen’s reach.

Function, form and atmosphere

Louis Poulsen was founded in 1874, and they've spent 150 years refining their Danish design heritage around a singular philosophy: that light itself should be the focus, not the fixture. Every product they make exists to shape how light behaves in space. It's a depth of thinking that's kept their designs culturally relevant across generations.

For us, this partnership represents something we're always working at: the ability to offer complete lighting solutions. Louis Poulsen adds decorative lighting with a design pedigree; architectural products that care as much about atmosphere as they do about photometrics.

Lighting that defines interiors

We are genuine fans of the Louis Poulsen range. Poul Henningsen's PH series, Arne Jacobsen's AJ collection, the sculptural Panthella; all pieces that will forever remain timeless. When a project needs a strong decorative element that carries enough design weight to be a focal point people will remember, Louis Poulsen is an easy answer.

Their products all demonstrate the same attention to how light performs in a space. Glare control, beam precision, and colour consistency are fundamental to the design process. Louis Poulsen approaches architectural lighting with the same philosophy that guides their decorative work: function and form must be inseparable.

This combination creates opportunities for cohesive lighting narratives across entire projects. For example, a hotel where the public spaces feature statement pendants while guestrooms use discreet architectural downlights, all sharing a common design language.

What makes Louis Poulsen distinctive?

These pieces shape light rather than just housing it. This thinking originated with Poul Henningsen in the 1920s and continues today. Every fixture is designed to eliminate glare, create comfortable illumination, and enhance the quality of spaces people occupy. As mentioned above, form and function are one, but function is defined by human experience rather than by technical performance alone.

This philosophy produces lighting that ages well.

A PH5 pendant installed in 1958 looks as considered today as it did then. Nothing feels dated, everything is timeless and relevant regardless of shifting trends. The importance of this for projects with long lifespans and significant investments cannot be understated.

How we'll work together

Our role is straightforward: make Louis Poulsen accessible to the Australian projects that deserve it.

We'll be operating across New South Wales, Victoria, Tasmania and Western Australia, working with architects, interior designers, lighting consultants and specifiers on commercial and high-end residential projects. Our Sydney and Melbourne showrooms will display pieces from the range, and we're available for project consultations to explore how Louis Poulsen might fit within broader lighting strategies.

We're honoured to represent Louis Poulsen

This isn't a brand you take on lightly, as the legacy demands respect. Our job is to make sure Australian projects have the same level of access and support that clients experience anywhere in the world.

If you're working on something where Louis Poulsen might be relevant, get in touch. We'd welcome the opportunity to discuss how the range might serve your project. Louis Poulsen's century-and-a-half of expertise is now backed by local stock, local support, and a team that understands the brand's significance and the realities of delivering complex projects.

We're ready and excited to help you specify it properly.
